Hearing help for theatregoers

We understand how frustrating it can be when trying to appreciate a live performance. Because of this, we have developed our Theatre Hearing Guide – designed to help you get the most out of every show.  Simply search for any venue on our database below to find the facilities they have available for your hearing needs.  Most offer hearing aid induction loops.

Old Vic Theatre

The auditorium is fitted with a Sennheiser Infrared System. Two types of hearing device are available: headsets for people who don’t use hearing aids but would like amplified sound; or neck loops for use with a hearing aid by switching it to the ‘T’ setting. If you have a digital hearing aid, please ensure that the ‘T’ setting is available because not all come with this setting installed. Headsets should be collected from the cloakroom in the main foyer before the performance. A returnable deposit of £5 is payable. Please inform the Box Office when booking if you’d like to make use of the system so you can be advised on where best to sit.

Open Air Theatre (Regent’s Park)

The Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has an FM assisted listening system in the theatre and headsets can be requested from the Box Office on a first come, first served basis. There are a limited number of these available so you must arrive early to collect these. A returnable deposit of £5 is requested. The actors and musicians are mic’d and the show is amplified, so customers often find that their own hearing aids are sufficient. Hearing assistance dogs are also welcome to the theatre and can be taken into the auditorium, or a member of staff can look after them during the show. Please let staff know at time of booking if you will be bringing a dog in order to ensure you can be seated in the most appropriate place, and so provision of staff can be arranged for looking after your dog if needed.
