Hearing help for theatregoers

We understand how frustrating it can be when trying to appreciate a live performance. Because of this, we have developed our Theatre Hearing Guide – designed to help you get the most out of every show.  Simply search for any venue on our database below to find the facilities they have available for your hearing needs.  Most offer hearing aid induction loops.

Barbican Hall at The Barbican Centre

Theatre uses a radio network to enhance the sound. The system must be used with headsets which can be picked up at the sales point close to the “Stalls – Right” theatre entrance. There is no cost or deposit required. If a large group is attending, it would be worthwhile calling in advance as they may have to hire some extra units in for you. http://www.barbican.org.uk/visitor-information/disability-access Here you can find a copy of the access guide which details the hard of hearing facilities in all venues.

Bloomsbury Theatre (Euston Road)

The Bloomsbury Theatre is fitted with a loop system, offering patrons headsets or loops to use. The headsets are stand alone units, and the loops are to use with a hearing aid switched to the ‘T’ position. It is very helpful to know at the time of booking if a customer would like to use any of these devices as, although the coverage within the auditorium is good, some seats do receive better reception than others. There is a stock of foam earplugs which are available to anyone who finds the performance too loud to be comfortable. These are mostly used by ushers who sit in the auditorium, but are available to customers also.

Brixton Academy

O2 Academy Brixton currently does not have any infra-red loops within the auditorium. This is something that they are currently in the process of looking into. They can however offer early access so that people are able to find a suitable position within the venue.
